We Are, A Nation of Immigrants – New Haven, CT is an exceptional project that celebrated the rich diversity and immense contribution of immigrants throughout the history of our region and country.
The Three Churches on the New Haven Green
20-foot high murals were attached to each of the six exterior sidewalls of the three churches on the Green. The two “courtyards” created in the spaces between the churches hosted oversized, free-standing portraits. The public gallery served as a focal point and a gathering spot for events, conversations and
individual reflection.

Standart created honest portraits that changed the way people saw themselves, gave them a sense of pride, and attracted others to wanted to know more about their lives and how they are seen by the community. My desire in creating these public art exhibits was to create portraits that honored and celebrated each individual, that instilled a sense of pride, and that engaged the community.
